Located in the north-east of Scotland in the heart of the world famous whisky producing region of Speyside, Gordon & MacPhail is an independent family owned and managed firm which has been bottling Single Malt Whiskies for over 116 years. From its humble beginnings as a retailer, Gordon and MacPhail has grown to become a diverse and dynamic company with a number of different business interests.

Today the company is a retailer, wholesaler, exporter, bottler of Single Malt Scotch Whisky and distiller, owning Benromach Distillery in Forres.Gordon & MacPhail is owned and directed by the third and fourth generation of the Urquhart family and employs over 130 people from it’s base in Elgin.

About Gordon & MacPhail Products

Gordon and MacPhail bottles over 300 expressions of single malt Scotch Whisky from distilleries throughout Scotland. Their long established relationships with distillery owners throughout the country allows them to send our oak casks to the majority of Scotland’s working distilleries to be filled with ‘new make’ spirit, which then mature for many years at the distillery of origin or in our bonded warehouses in Elgin. The oak casks are carefully stowed and regularly checked until they finally achieve the highest quality standards. Only then are they bottled and presented for sale.

The Gordon & MacPhail Distillery

Located on the outskirts of the ancient market town of Forres lies Benromach Distillery. From a small and almost lost distillery emerged a single malt with distinctive qualities reflecting its hand made credentials as well as encapsulating the self-reliance, sophistication and modern values of Scotland today. Established in 1898, the distillery experienced many closures and changes in ownership prior to 1993, when malt whisky specialists, Gordon & MacPhail rescued it. Following an extensive reinstallation project, embracing the distillery’s original character, Benromach was officially re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1998.
